Ministry Groups

Adult Sunday School

There are two options on Sunday mornings for discussion on how faith is applicable today. Check them out!

Builders

We invest in each other through a welcoming time as well as sharing prayer concerns within the group. We focus on a Bible study each week often from The Upper Room. This provides scripture and a devotion for us to discuss and dive into.

Contemporary Adult Sunday School

Our goal is to learn and grow together in our discipleship through conversation and community. We engage a variety of topics. Sometimes we use a curriculum including a book. Other times we focus on topical conversations. We tie all of our conversations to Scripture but do not consider this class to a be a Bible study.

A bible lays open with a pair of glasses and a pen symbolizing the gathering of adults to study scripture and how it is applicable in our day-to-day lives.

Prayer Groups

There are two groups who gather around the practice of prayer and contemplation. Both are opportunities to increase your spiritual practices.

Prayer Shawl Group

All knitters and crocheters welcome! Whether you have knit and/or crocheted your whole life or you’re just beginning, we mean you. Join us once a month to craft prayer shawls. The shawls we make are shared with those who could use a little extra prayer and love. While we knit and crochet together, we share in conversation, yarn, and new skills.

Second Tuesday at 10am in the library Leader: Linda Holdren

Prayer Chain Team

Join us in the spiritual work of praying for our congregation, neighborhood, and world. Prayer connects us to God and one another. As a part of our prayer team you will be invited to pray for the care needs of our congregation and communities. We communicate prayer needs through email and in worship. Each person is invited to pray when and where it is convenient.

If you would like a sacred space and time, the Sanctuary is open every Wednesday 8:15-8:45am for silent reflection and prayer.

Small groups in faith communities are unique opportunities to explore your faith and build relationships. Each small group within the Westminster UMC community is open to new people joining. Often, people perceive church small groups as affinity groups - gatherings centered around a shared interest or quality.

If you don’t see a group that feels like the right fit, reach out to Rev Megan. Maybe you will birth the next exciting small group others have been waiting for!

United Methodist Groups

The United Methodist Church has historically hosted men’s and women’s groups for faith and relationship building. Westminster UMC is host to one of each.

United Women in Faith

United Women in Faith (UWF), formerly known as United Methodist Women (UMW), is a faith-based organization of women who are committed to growing in community with others and advocating on behalf of women, children, and youth around the world.

During the school year, we meet in smaller groups called circles. We focus on relationship building, theological education, spiritual growth, and mission outreach opportunities. We do fundraisers throughout the year to support global and local ministries. And, we participated in regional events with other UWF groups.

Meeting times + locations coming soon.

United Methodist Men

The United Methodist Men’s goal is to build friendships through faith and time in community. Our spiritual journey is an adventure that inspires friends to become followers of Jesus and followers to become friends. We cultivate servant leadership through outreach projects together.

Second Saturday at 8am, location shifts Leader: Paul Langley

Music Ministry

Many people feel a stronger connection to God and their faith through music. If you are one of those people, our music ministries may be what you’re looking for.

Sanctuary Singers

We are a community of vocalists of all experience levels. We help lead worship once a month with music of many styles — gospel, traditional, and contemporary! We welcome all youth and adults who want to practice their faith through song.

Sundays at 11am in the Sanctuary Leader: Judy Sapegin

Special Music

If you play a musical instrument or enjoy singing solos, consider participating in worship as the special music once in a while. Your talents are welcome!
